Most of a shoot is waiting.
Text, Spline Sans 400
We shoot on location, in the light that is already there, with a crew small enough to wait for it.

Location
The whole place, wide, seen through the gate. A crew is somewhere in it, small enough to find. Opens and closes pages.
Crew in frame
Close on the painted crew at work: camera, boom, reflector. Cards, steps and proof of how a film was made.
Interval
A painting left as it was, no crew, calm light. The pause between scenes, behind a statement or a note.
Buttons
The main action carries a small clapper. It sits open, lifts on hover and focus, and claps shut when pressed. Everything else is a hairline cell or a line of text.

Fields
On card stock a field is a hairline cell with the answer set in the serif. Focus warms the cell and inks its base. On the slate board the same cells take the labels of a clapperboard.

Long text
The slate board: the clapperboard is the form. It checks itself, claps and sends nothing.
Selection
A chosen radio becomes a registration mark. The switch shows the clapper sticks when it is on. Cells take an inked base when pressed.

Tabs and call sheet
Arrow keys move between tabs. Times, counts and coordinates are tabular. The call sheet reads the way a crew reads one: time first, then the name.

Status and progress
No colour stands for a state: the mark does. Sienna, taken from the storm painting, is kept for errors alone.

Notes
Light study booked for Tuesday
Two of us test the light at the marsh before anyone else travels.
Rain after 15:00
We move the river scenes to the morning and keep the barn for the afternoon.
The beach permit ends on Friday
Renew it before the last shooting day, or we lose the low-tide scenes.
Windows and sheets
Every picture is seen through a die-cut window: rounded film corners, a raised tab and two registration pins. Switch the Gate to close or open them all.
Film sheet: card stock with one window, the title on its tab
Before the Weather
A fisherman, his dog and the hour before a squall.
Narragansett Bay, 2025
Wide window with its printed credit
Statement: the words take the ink in turn
We make films for brands, broadcasters and the curious, in the light that is already there.
Documentary
Feature and short documentaries for broadcasters, museums and festivals.
Commercials
Brand films shot where the product is made or used.
Long-form drama
Series and features, from first draft to final grade.
Dialogs and toasts
A dialog is a sheet with the die-cut edge and its own slate. A toast is a small printed card whose base runs down its time; hovering holds it.
